DORITOS LEYENDAS

Doritos — Concept & Production by Boli.Media

A legend about the origin of the boldest flavor on earth — told by two friends eating chips at the Grand Canyon. A fully AI‑produced spec ad, built on a proprietary character-consistency pipeline.

The standard:
it can't look
like AI.

Spec ad. Doritos is not a Boli.Media client. LEYENDAS is an independent creative exploration — produced at the same standard a commissioned campaign for a mass-market brand would demand.

A spec ad for a mass-consumer brand carries a different bar than a fashion spec: the audience is enormous, the category is crowded with big-budget campaigns, and viewers already have an eye for AI artifacts in food and creature work — the two hardest things to fake.

The self-imposed brief: build a campaign-scale, epic fantasy sequence — a dragon, a volcanic world, a full creature — using only AI generation, and hold it to the standard of a commissioned production. Not a demo. A finished spot.

"LEYENDAS is not about proving a dragon can look real. It's about proving a Director can still tell you why it's there."

The epic is
the story.
The reveal is
the concept.

A legend about the origin of the boldest flavor on earth: a Doritos-shaped egg hatches into a dragon, and the dragon's flight turns a cornfield into chips. Full campaign-scale fantasy — but it's a story, not a spectacle for its own sake.

Epic
yet human
Fantasy
but grounded
Bold
but personal
01
Origin
A Doritos egg cracks open in a volcanic world. The dragon is born.
02
Flight
The dragon flies a canyon and a river of lava, then a cornfield turns to chips as it passes.
03
The Reveal
Cut to real life: two friends on their bikes at the Grand Canyon, eating real Doritos. The legend was always a conversation.
Final Tagline
TASTE THE FIRE.
FEEL THE EPIC.
LEYENDAS

We built the
tool the shot
required.

A dragon has to look identical across a dozen shots. Character consistency is the single hardest problem in AI video — so instead of fighting it prompt by prompt, we built the Character Sheet Engine: an internal tool that locks a character's reference (a multi-angle sheet, versioned like source code) before a single second of footage is generated.

That's not tool use. That's production infrastructure — built because the commercial tools didn't solve this problem, not because it was fun to build.

Alongside it, a set of custom Claude skills was built during production — for prompt engineering, and for reasoning shot by shot the way a commercial director does.

Reference-Anchor Pipeline
Reference images anchor mood, light, and composition far more than prompt text does. Every location got a “natural” and an “epic” reference plate, reused verbatim across shots for a consistent grade.
Surgical Iteration
Once a rough cut existed, a broken shot was replaced with a 4-10s targeted regeneration — never the full clip. Cost control as production discipline, not improvisation.
Physical, Not Figurative
Figurative prompt language causes literal hallucination — a human actor described with “arms like wings” grew actual wings. Every action is written in strictly physical, anatomical terms instead.
Post Over Prompting
Two conflicting environment references (canyon → lava) made the model cross-dissolve instead of transform. Solved with a whip transition in the edit, not more generation credits.

Built in
stages.
Each one locked
before the next.

Character sheets first — dragon, egg, and both real-world cast members — approved through the Character Sheet Engine before a single second of video was generated. Then reference plates per location, “natural” and “epic” grading each.

Video generation on Seedance 2.5, driven entirely by those locked references. Every creative decision made by the Director — the tools served the brief.

Systematic on
the hard parts.
Post-production
on the impossible.

This is the case for Boli.Media's approach. Not that we use AI — every studio claims that now. But that we use AI the way a Director uses a camera: as a tool subordinate to a vision, not a substitute for one.

LEYENDAS exists to make that argument visible — and to show what a director-led AI pipeline actually learns along the way, not just what it produces.

The legend
continues.

LEYENDAS was built as the first piece of a series, not a one-off spot. A second spec ad is already in concept — Mauricio's story, a marine-life legend behind Doritos Sea Salt, using the same character-consistency pipeline.

That's the pitch: not a single spot, but a system that scales into a campaign.

Next legend — Mauricio, Doritos Sea Salt
Theme — marine life, in concept
Same pipeline — Character Sheet Engine, reused
